Evaluating a Jodell or Zimmer electric gripper alternative starts with the exact model and the existing integration. A matching stroke does not establish matching force, environmental protection, control software or mounting. This guide separates the two product families and identifies what to verify.
Jodell RG: compare the exact variant
DOBOT’s ecosystem specification table lists RG52-050 and RG75-300 variants. It gives adjustable strokes of 0–52 mm and 0–75 mm, respectively, and labels the force row Max Force on Single Side: 2–50 N and 40–300 N. Its model-specific IP ratings are IP54 and IP65. These are variant-specific figures, not a single rating for all RG grippers.

| Check | Jodell RG evaluation | Grippersupply candidate to investigate |
|---|---|---|
| Opening range | Confirm whether your existing unit is the 52 mm or 75 mm variant | EPGC-50-150: 50 mm adjustable stroke; not the same opening range |
| Force convention | DOBOT labels force on a single side | EPGC-50-150 publishes 40–150 N, ±10%; establish the same force convention before numerical comparison |
| Protection | Model-specific IP54 or IP65 in the cited table | EPGC-50-150: IP54; do not substitute for an IP65 requirement |
| Control integration | Check the installed robot plug-in, software version and gripper interface | Modbus RTU (RS485), I/O (NPN); robot software and flange compatibility require confirmation |
Zimmer GEP2000: preserve the interface requirement
Zimmer’s GEP2000 documentation distinguishes digital I/O and IO-Link versions. It identifies jaw positioning for the IL-03 variant. Confirm the full suffix before designing a replacement: Modbus RTU and IO-Link use different interfaces and cannot share a control connection directly.

| Selection item | Zimmer GEP2000 evaluation | Grippersupply evaluation |
|---|---|---|
| Stroke | Read stroke per jaw for the selected size | Check the candidate drawing and required total opening |
| Force | Use the exact size, finger length and force setting | Check force at the planned fingers; a series maximum is insufficient |
| Communication | I/O or IO-Link, depending on variant | EPG2-26-15 offers Modbus RTU (RS485) and I/O (NPN); no IO-Link equivalence is claimed |
| Repeatability | Obtain the exact variant’s specification and test definition | EPG2-26-15: ±0.02 mm; verify measurement conditions before comparison |
When retaining the existing gripper is practical
If an established robot plug-in, IO-Link diagnostics, mounting pattern or environmental rating is mandatory, retaining the original configuration may avoid significant integration work. Evaluate a second source when the control and mechanical changes can be tested and documented.
What should I send for a replacement review?
Send the complete ordering code, current wiring, mounting drawing, jaw travel, part weight and surface condition. Include the acceleration profile and required behavior when power is lost. We will identify missing evidence rather than assume a direct replacement.
How do I estimate force before choosing a model?
Use our gripper sizing calculator for an initial friction-grip estimate, then check finger loads, force definitions and actual part testing. Read the finger design guide for contact and geometry considerations.
Check your application
Send the existing model code, part drawing, mass, finger length, stroke, acceleration and controller interface. We will check the application before recommending a model. Request a quote or ask on WhatsApp.
