DH Robotics PGE Alternative: EPG2 Electric Parallel Grippers for 50–150 N Jobs
Short answer: If you need an alternative to the DH-Robotics PGE-50-26, PGE-50-40 or PGE-100-26, look at the Grippersupply EPG2-26-50, EPG2-50-50 and EPG2-50-150. They offer 26 mm or 50 mm stroke, ±0.02 mm repeatability, Modbus RTU (RS485) and I/O control, and IP40. You can order 1 piece, and each one has a 12-month warranty.
DH-Robotics’ PGE series are slim electric parallel grippers, and the brand is well regarded. This page is for engineers who want a second source for the higher-force PGE models. We list only published values. DH-Robotics numbers come from its official Servo Electric Gripper Catalog (EN, 2403): https://en.dh-robotics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Servo-Electric-Gripper-Catalog_DH-Robotics_EN.2403.pdf. Our numbers come from our product catalog (V1.4). If you want the smaller PGE-5-26 or PGE-8-14, read our DH-Robotics alternative overview.
Which EPG2 model fits which PGE model?
| If you use | Closest Grippersupply option | Why |
|---|---|---|
| PGE-50-26 | EPG2-26-50 | Same 26 mm stroke class and a similar force range |
| PGE-50-40 | EPG2-50-50 | Longer stroke (50 mm vs 40 mm) and a similar force range |
| PGE-100-26 | EPG2-50-150 | Higher-force option with a 3 kg recommended payload |
These are the closest matches. They are not exact copies. Check the stroke, force, mounting and cable against your part and your robot.

About force values: DH-Robotics gives force per jaw. We give a rated gripping force. Because the two figures are stated differently, they are not directly comparable. If your application runs close to the force limit, ask us before you choose.
About open/close time: Our open/close times are single-stroke (open OR close). DH lists Opening/closing time as two figures (open/close), e.g. 0.45 s / 0.45 s. Those DH figures are one-way each direction, so they can be compared with our single-stroke times on that basis.
Where the PGE is the better choice
- Fieldbus options: The PGE offers optional TCP/IP, USB2.0, CAN2.0A, PROFINET and EtherCAT. EPG2 grippers do not support EtherCAT. They use Modbus RTU (RS485) and I/O only.
- Payload: The PGE-50-26 and PGE-50-40 list a 1 kg recommended payload. The EPG2-26-50 and EPG2-50-50 list 0.8 kg.
- Weight (vs EPG2-50-150): The PGE-100-26 weighs 0.55 kg. Ask us for the EPG2-50-150 weight before you size your robot payload.
Where EPG2 may fit better
- Longer stroke: The EPG2-50-50 and EPG2-50-150 have a 50 mm stroke. The PGE-50-40 has 40 mm, and the PGE-100-26 has 26 mm.
- Narrow width: The EPG2-26-50 and EPG2-50-50 are 26 mm thick.
- Buying terms: You can order 1 piece. Lead time confirmed on quote. Every gripper has a 12-month warranty, and CAD is available on request.
Selection guide
- Stroke: Take your largest part width, subtract your smallest part width, and add clearance. If the result is above 26 mm, choose a 50 mm EPG2.
- Force and payload: Check the part mass, the finger friction and the robot acceleration. If your part is above 0.8 kg, consider the EPG2-50-150 (3 kg recommended payload).
- Control: If your PLC or robot uses Modbus RTU or digital I/O, EPG2 connects directly. If your cell requires EtherCAT or PROFINET, the PGE may suit you better. You can also add a gateway on your side.
- Envelope: Compare the dimensions in the table with your fixture. Ask us for the CAD file.
FAQ
Is EPG2-26-50 a drop-in replacement for the DH-Robotics PGE-50-26?
Not exactly. Both have a 26 mm stroke class and Modbus RTU and I/O control. The size, mounting holes and cable differ, so check the CAD file before you swap one for the other.
Which EPG2 model compares with the PGE-100-26?
The EPG2-50-150 is the closest. It has a 0–50 mm stroke, a rated gripping force of 40–150 N and a 3 kg recommended payload. The PGE-100-26 lists 30–100 N per jaw and 2 kg.
Do EPG2 grippers support EtherCAT or PROFINET?
No. EPG2 grippers support Modbus RTU (RS485) and I/O. DH-Robotics offers EtherCAT and PROFINET as options on the PGE.
Can I compare the force numbers directly?
No. DH-Robotics gives force per jaw. We give a rated gripping force, so the two figures are not directly comparable. Ask us if your application is close to the limit.
What is the minimum order quantity?
1 piece. Lead time confirmed on quote. Every gripper has a 12-month warranty.
Do you provide certificates and CAD files?
Certificates are available on request. CAD files are also available on request.
